Description Cultural values are imbedded in everyday routines of caregiving. The ability to acknowledge and respect family child rearing practices which may differ from those caregiving routines done in the classroom is the basis for beginning to resolve conflicts. Through routine activities many times each day, the educator is passing on cultural message about how life should be lived, thus having a profound effect on the development of Infants and toddlers. External factors can influence how a family’s cultural beliefs and values are performed. This workshop will explore the meaning of culture, the Cultural Iceberg Theory, and strategies for building positive relationships with families and respect for their unique cultures.
